Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 7; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 8; Taggstrålar i analfenan 1; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 8. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: cephalic sensory-canal pore system only lacking an IT pore (Pattern 2); dorsal/anal fin-ray formula of 8/8; with one or more pectoral-fin rays branched; the fifth pelvic-fin ray present and 7-12% of fourth; deep body (23-32% SL); caudal peduncle deep (14-17% SL).
