Etymology: Aulonocara: Greek, aulos = flute + Greek, kara = face, head (Ref. 45335).

Considered as valid in FB, synonymized with the species Aulonocara maylandi Trewavas, 1984 in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. Oct. 2012: Ref. 92135). Please send references, or more studies are needed.
