Occurs in relatively large rivers characterized by high turbidity . Feeds primarily on small fishes, prawns (Ref. 5259, 44894) and crustaceans. Breeds in the dry season (June-July) (Ref. 44894). Is the largest member of the family (Ref. 5259).
