Introduced in the Pyrénées at the end of the last century and more recently in lakes and reservoirs of the Jura and the Alpes (Ref. 30578). Introduced in Europe from eggs since 1881. Successfully introduced in several pyreneans lakes since 1970. Found in some lakes of Massif Central (Villefort), Jura (Vouglans) and Alpes (Vanoise, Mercantour, Tignes). No evidence of its reproduction (Ref. 40476). Established breeding populations exist in Pyrénée; locally introduced in lakes of Massif Central and Alps where it apparently survives only by stocking (Ref. 59043).
