Original type locality of Clupea fimbriata was indicated as 'Porta Praya' (Ref. 1888). However, this is an erroneous type locality, which was followed by later authors (Ref. 3509, 27000), and as a result these reports from Cape Verde Islands are mistaken records (Ref. 188, 94080). Also the type locality of Harengula forsteri was indicated as 'San-Jago du cap Vert' (Ref. 104876), but its description is based on a drawing by George Forster of Clupea fimbriata (Ref. 188). |
