Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 20 - 200 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Gulf of California and Costa Rica to Peru, including the Galapagos Islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Oviparous (Ref. 50449). Eggs have horn-like projections on the shell (Ref. 205).
IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable (VU); Date assessed: 06 February 2019 (A2d) Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
