Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 9-9; Vertebrae: 37-38. Distinguished from other members of the genus Pseudophoxinus by the following characters: complete lateral line with 53-61 pored scales; dorsal fin rays III 8, anal fin rays III 9; gill rakers 11-14; a preopercular-mandibular cephalic sensory canal interrupted between the lower jaw and preoperculum; a considerably laterally compressed body with a partly scaleless keel on the belly (Ref. 33550). |
