Max. size:  14.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 371 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: NE Arabian Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal soft rays: 13-15; Vertebrae: 44-45. This species iis distinguished by the following characters: caudal fin trilobed with lateral line continuous with central lobe; large mouth gape extending far beyond the eye; jaws bearing characteristic fang like, unequal teeth with barbed tips arranged in 2-3 rows; teeth on the roof of the mouth and tongue; head with a very short snout and eyes placed laterally very close to snout tip; nostrils placed close to the snout tip; branchiostegals thin and numerous (> 17); pelvic fins with 9 rays; with adipose fin; gill rakers spine like (Ref. 106147).
