Max. size:  41 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 66 m
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: New Caledonia, Lord Howe Island, Kermadec Islands (Ref. 8879) and Hawaii.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  An uncommon species found in seaward reefs (Ref. 9710). Benthic (Ref. 58302). Feeds on a wide variety of small invertebrate animals such as crabs, shrimps and other crustaceans, polychaete worms, mollusks, heart urchins and foraminiferans (Ref. 3921).
