Biology: |
A rare species. Demersal but may occasionally be pelagic (Ref. 9343). Prefers sand or gravel substrata in shallow waters and will frequently bury itself. When lying exposed on the bottom, it can change it color to match the substratum, making it difficult to distinguish from the bottom. If harassed, it will rapidly dart head first about one or two feet away and dive into the substrata (Ref. 28023). |
