Remarks 'Brochet' from Latin slang 'brocca', feminine substantive of 'brochus' = projecting, pointed, 'broche', 'brochet' for its pointed snout (Ref. 9404, see also 'gade' and 'morue'); 'de mer', i.e., of the sea, from Latin 'mare' (Ref. 9404). Name not listed in ASFIS version 2006 (Ref. 56807).
